T-shirt Competition Rules
Submission:
Entrants are asked to provide an initial submission file for judging purposes only - Manifest will request the original work should you win the competition. However, should you feel that the true beauty of your creation cannot be expressed due to the size constraint, you may supply a URL to your work. Please note that even in doing this, you are required to submit your illustration as a file.
Be aware that your design must be identifiable as a t-shirt for
Manifest 2006, although how you do this is up to you. It is suggested
that you do this by including the words "Manifest 2006", but it is not
obligatory that you do it this way.
International artists are welcome to enter.
Your submitted work must adhere to the following:
a) Size:
Your design must be printable on an A3 sheet [400x277mm,
allowing for 10mm margins]. You are not required to use the entire
sheet; you may use as little as you see fit. You may divide this how
you see fit [for example, a big bit for the back, a small design for
the front], but the total area may not exceed this. It is suggested
that no individual part be bigger than 300mm in any dimension, as
larger parts may have difficulty fitting onto smaller-sized shirts.
b) File requirements:
The example files submitted for judging should be no larger than 10MB
total, and must be in JPEG, TIFF, or PNG formats.
The original (working) files may be much larger than the files
submitted for judging, but must be in TIFF, PNG, or PSD format.
If your design contains multiple parts (as for, e.g., a front design and
a back design), you may submit these individual parts either as
individual files or as a single file, laid out as for printing on an
A3 sheet; the first is preferred.
c) Resolution:
A minimum of 300 dpi.
d) Colour:
Must be CMYK.
Entry:
Your submission must:
a) Include with it a text file containing:
- Your real name and (if appropriate) the nickname you wish to be credited by
- Your contact details (including both phone number and email address)
- A URL to your work, should you believe it necessary.
- If your design consists of multiple pieces, where these multiple
pieces should be placed on the t-shirt.
b) Be received via:
Email to publicity@manifest.org.au with the subject line as: "[MANIFEST] T-Shirt Competition".
c) Be received by:
Midnight, Thursday 31st of August 2006 (Australian Eastern Standard Time)
Content Warning:
- Manifest advises caution towards depiction of extreme violence and nudity. We encourage artists to consider the wide audience that Manifest caters for.
- Montages may be used to support your illustration, however it should cover no more than 2/3 of your illustration.
- Give credit where credit is due. Any content used in your illustration that does not belong to you must be acknowledged (see Entry).
The Prize:
Having a T-shirt featuring your art widely distributed as merchandise for promoting Manifest 2006, with your name on it - and also have your name go in out Programme Book.
Plus:
- One free T-Shirt of your design, with customisation (customisation subject to the approval of MOC).
And a choice of one of the following;
- Two free passes to Manifest 2006.
- Two original music CDs (note: the ordering process may take time).
- A $60 gift voucher to one of the following stores: Borders, EB Games, Minotuar, Art Supplies, Comics R Us, Hobby Japan, Japan Book Plaza, Polyester. (Please note that the variety of stores may increase or decrease in the future.)
Note that it is expected that there will be several winners; in the
event that there are, each will individually receive the above prizes.
Fine Print:
- By submitting your entry for consideration, you are agreeing to be bound by the rules of this competition.
- By entering your work to this competition, you are consenting to have your illustration used for Melbourne Anime Festival publicity purposes, including Manifest 2006 t-shirts. You are also consenting to having your name (or nickname, should you prefer) added to the Competition Winner Hall of Fame.
- Manifest 2006 takes no responsibility for the entrant's illegal use of copyrighted material.
- The winning artwork will be subject to Manifest 2006's use, and Manifest's will have exclusive rights to it until 30th of September 2008.
- Manifest holds exclusive rights to all entries for the duration of the competition.
- The artist is permitted to display the winning image on their web site(s).
- All artwork submitted by entrants (whether the eventual winning entry or not) may be used by Manifest 2006 for other promotional activities, and Manifest 2006 merchandise. You will be contacted if this is the case.
- Members of the Manifest Orangisational Committee are eligible to enter, but will not be permitted to in any way participate in judging, or voting on the entries.
- Members of the Manifest Orangisational Committee are not eligible to receive any prizes, but will receive the recognition they deserve.
- Manifest reserves the right to declare this competition null and void if the entries received are not of a reasonable standard.
- Prizes are non-refundable and non-exchangeable.
- These rules are subject to change. Should there be any changes, they will be made known via the Manifest web site, and any existing entrants will be notified.
- The judges' decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into on this matter.
