Manifest 2006 Anime Idol About the competition
Entrants will be required to sing (karaoke) an anime song and to answer
a few questions about themselves - whoever you happen to be - so that
the judges may properly assess your suitability for greatness.
Please note that if the song that you feel demonstrates your ability the
best is not on our song list (as listed below), you are requested to
bring it on CD so that there can be background music for you. You don't
have to, of course, if you feel your voice alone is good enough!
Finalists must sing a song from our play list but the heat is open for choice so pick something that displays
your abilities best.
This is Anime Idol, not Anime Idols! No group signups. All glory will go
to one individual.
Prospective Idols are allowed to enter once and once only, and are
permitted to sing one song. Prospective Idols may not restart their
performance once started.
Other technical notes
- Contestants must attend both Saturday and Sunday to become the
Anime Idol.
- Manifest 2006 reserves the right not to award any prizes,
pending the standard of prospective idols.
- The judges' decision is final. No correspondence will be entered
into on this matter. Prizes are non-refundable, non-exchangeable and
non-transferable.
- Any audio materials to be played during your heat must be
submitted to the Anime Idol Coordinator at the Information Table at
least one hour before the event is due to start.
- Only standard audio CDs will be accepted (this includes CD-Rs,
but not MP3s on a CD), and only one track will be played (Manifest
would prefer it if it were track 1).
- The CD should be clearly labelled with your name and the track
number you wish to be played. If you are cosplaying please include
your character's name as well.
- Manifest shall try its best but takes no responsibility if your
material cannot be played during your heat. Collection of audio
materials from the Anime Idol Coordinator must be made immediately
after the conclusion of the heat, Manifest 2005 will not be held
responsible for any audio material left behind.
- Judging will be based on the quality of voice, attitude and
general all round idolness of the entrant. Special attention will
also be paid to one's on-stage presence, so don't be afraid to let
yourself go! (*ahem* G-rated, folks...)
- Each finalist should sing a different song. In the event that it
is decided that too many of the finalists have chosen to sing the
same song, Manifest reserves the right to require that you sing your
second preference as specified during your Anime Idol registration.
- Contestants do not need to cosplay unless a character in the
anime sings the song. If not cosplaying then the contestant should
to dress in the style of the anime.
- The heat song is the contestant’s choice but it is preferred
that you choose an anime opening or closing but no longer that 3mins
in length. The Finals song must be chosen from the list which will
be provided here in days to come. Each contestant must sing a unique
song in the heat and in the finals. In the event that two or more
contestants choose the same song, you will be required to choose a
different song. This rule is on a first come, first serve basis,
therefore any one choosing a song already chosen by a previous
contestant will have to choose a different song.
- You may bring words on the day but will not be able to use
during the competition, as all songs must be sung by heart.
