FRUiTS Competition Hello all~
This year we have planned a special "FRuITS Fashion Competition" for the
Friday of Manifest.
"The "FRUiTS look" could be summarized as combining traditional
Japanese styles of dress with an irreverent approach to modifying and
combining elements of clothing, accessories, and technology."
Why?
Seeing as we only have Cosplay competitions on the weekend of Manifest
where only Japanese anime/manga and video game characters are allowed,
we wanted to take into account and support the ever growing Japanese
fashion and acknowledge the hard work that some of our attendees go
through to look good.
This competition is mainly for fun and hopes to relieve some of the
pressure the weekend Cosplay Competitions may have.
What can be entered?
For our competition we are allowing any form of "Japanese pop culture
fashion" This includes, but isn’t limited to, Visual Kei & J-rock (take
for example Mana) J-pop (Morning Misume) Elegant Gothic Lolita, Sweet
Lolita, Ama-loli (basically any of the "lolita" styles), traditional
Japanese clothing (kimonos and yukatas), school uniforms (fuku) Japanese
punk styles, Harajuku, Decora, Kogal, "Fruit" style and many more. Own
creations are encouraged, we understand that there are some people that
can purchase beautiful garments from Japan @_@ but this will be greatly
taken into account when judging.
All entrants will be required to fill out a registration form. Sign ups
will be done during the day.
Entrants may be asked questions based upon the pre-reg entry.
Awards may include (but not limited to)
- best technical construction
- best compiled outfit (this is where store bought costumes/or partly
bought may win)
- overall best costume
All entrants will need to arrive 30-40 minutes before the competition
begins in said location. There will be no 'pre-reg' simply a short
sign-up on the day where you will be required to fill out the following
Judges will need to arrive 60 minutes before the event to discuss that
day's competition and a run through of the competition
- name
- style of dress
- whether or not it was bought/made/combination
Some questions may be asked either by the judges, host or a combination.
The Cosplay Coordinator, and Judges are not eligible for entry into
the FRUiTS Fashion Parade.
Manifest Committee members are eligible to enter the Cosplay Competition
but may only win prizes in the Audience Choice category. Should a
Manifest Committee member be judges the winner of any other category,
they will only be awarded a medallion, and not a prize (if any).
The awarding of medallions to Manifest Committee Members (apart from the
Audience Choice) will be subject to a case-by-case analysis by the
Cosplay Working Group.
The Judges reserve the right not to award prizes or medallions, pending
the standard of entries.
THE COSPLAY COORDINATOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY ENTRANTS WHO
MISREPRESENT ANY ASPECTS OF THEIR ENTRY ON THEIR REGISTRATION FORM
Any concerns of bias/corruption should first be raised to the
Cosplay Coordinator.
In the event of a Cosplay Judge being accused of bias/corruption, the
Cosplay Coordinator reserves the right to discard that Judges' scores
and re-score entries. Should these concerns involve the Cosplay
Coordinator, the issues will be dealt with the rest of the Manifest
Organisational Committee.
The decision of the Committee is final, and no further correspondence
will be entered into.
These rules are subject to change.
Any changes to these rules will be posted on the Manifest forums,
web page and sent out to registered entrants via email.
COSPLAYING AS CHARACTERS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE COMP. THIS EVENT
IS PURELY TO accommodate FOR THE "NON-COSPLAY" FASHION.
