Manifest Auction 2006

"Every man's trash is another man's treasure."

Got some trash? Let it be someone's (slightly new) treasure! Submit your item to Manifest's Auction, and watch the fury rise when 'Treasurers' are out bid! Watch the tears as money is handed over, and the evil glares as someone loses the item they've wanted by a single dollar! Watch the 'Trashers' cackle maniacally as you bid more than they paid! Especially come and watch as the age old tradition of MCs-that-can't-pronounce-Japanese continues!

Trasher's terms and conditions
Treasurer's terms and conditions

Definitions:
Trasher - Someone who wants to get rid of an item or twenty.
Treasurer - Someone who will buy an item or twenty.
Reserve Price - The price the Trasher really wants the item to be sold at. If it's under this price folks, you don't get the item!
Starting Price - The price the item will begin bidding at. Chose wisely Trashers, the start price will determine whether your item will be sold or not!

New To Auction

Auction will be run slightly differently this year. Below are the changes planned for this event.

  • Pay after the auction. Place your bid during the auction. If you win, a Baka Boy will hand you a ticket with your last bid on it. Keep this ticket and claim your item at the Auction Table after the Auction ends. You will have until 4pm on Sunday to claim your auction win.
  • You can bid on people. Well, not really. You can however, bid for their services! Please take note that you must abide by the terms and conditions shown below. Humans are not to be abused.
  • Items due by 8pm, Friday 22nd of September. All auction items must be registered before this time. Anything later will not be accepted.
  • Auction lists will be available. A list of auction items will be available at the Auction Table on Saturday afternoon. Estimated time of arrival: 2pm. So grab one and see if anything peaks your interest!
  • Adult material will be auctioned. Only if you have adult material you want to get rid of, of course. Adult material will only be available to adults. Please have your ID with you to prove that you are an adult, or you will not receive your adult item.

Auction will also have a 10 second rule where after the last bid, if no other bids are placed within 10 seconds, the last bid wins.

  • TRASHERS (Sellers) - TERMS AND CONDITIONS

BY SUBMITTING AN ITEM TO THE MANIFEST AUCTION OF 2006, YOU ARE AGREEING TO THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

    1. There will be no bootleg items sold at the Manifest Auction 2006. Bootlegged items are defined as sold or made illegally. This can include, but is not limited to items produced by Son May, Smile, Ever Anime, etc. Organisers will only auction legitimate licensed goods, and have the right to refuse any auction item that may be deemed illegitimate. By submitting your item you are allowing organisers to check your item for legitimacy. Any bootlegged items will be returned.

    2. Registration of items is essential. Any item not registered will not be auctioned. Item registration must occur before 8pm on Friday the 22nd of September. There are two ways to register:

      a) Before Manifest – Please send an email to auction@manifest.org.au with [registering auction items] as the subject. Also include in the email the following details:

        Trasher's name:
        Item to be sold:
        Item description:
        Reserve price:
        Starting price:

      b) During Manifest – Please register at the Manifest Auction Table found near the Merchandise Table, both located at Wilson Hall. Then simply fill out a form to register your item/s.

    3. You may set a reserve price on any of your items. If the reserve price is not met, then the item will be passed in and returned to the 'trasher'. If no reserve price has been set, then the item will be sold as long as it receives a valid bid. The reserve price for any item and the identity of the item's vendor will not be made public.

    4. Should any item be passed in because the reserve price has not been met, it is the responsibility of the original 'trasher' to collect the item from the Auction Co-ordinator half an hour after the auction. If the item/s is not collected before the end of Manifest, please email: auction@manifest.org.au for information on collecting them.

    5. You may also set a starting price on any of your items – this will be the price bidding will begin at. If no starting price is noted, the item will begin at $2.

    6. Items must be handed in at the Manifest Auction Table before 8pm on Friday the 22nd of September. Any item not received by this time will not be presented for Auction, even if it has been registered. If you cannot attend Manifest on Friday, please notify the Auction Co-ordinator at auction@manifest.org.au. Once an item has been presented and stored, you cannot cancel the auctioning of the item, so please be sure you are definite about 'trashing'.

    7. The organisers reserve the right to refuse registration of items that they consider inappropriate. This includes (but is not limited to) non-anime related items, bootlegs or extremely low valued items.

    8. You may sell more than one item, but no more than 5 items will be accepted from any one 'trasher'.

    9. Items designed for adults can be auctioned but may be rejected if organisers deem them inappropriate. Adult material must be declared when registering the item and will only be sold to adults (18+). Organisers will censor items accordingly.

    10. People's services may be auctioned for one hour only at the time of pick up, with their permission and knowledge of being auctioned. If requests made by 'treasurers' impede the person's morals, ethics or personal values, the person may object to the request. If the person feels harassed into doing something they do not agree to, they may call off the auction deal at any time.

    11. There are no restrictions on the condition of the items being sold, but it is preferred that the exact condition of the item is specified in the description of the item when it is being registered.

    12. Money for any items sold during the Auction will be available for collection at 5pm on Sunday from the Manifest Auction Table.

    13. You may NOT bid on your own items.

    14. The order in which the items to be auctioned are presented in is up to the discretion of the auctioneers and organisers and will not be disclosed to any other persons.

    15. The Auction will be limited to items belonging to attendees, and only if there is time will items belonging to traders be sold, should traders wish to auction. Traders will need to register their items if this is the case.

    16. Due to a different payment process, there is no guarantee that your item/s will be sold even though 'treasurers' may have bid during the auction. If a 'treasurer' does not pay for their item, it will be returned to the 'trasher'. These items can be picked up at 5pm at the Auction Table.

    17. The organisers reserve the right to make alterations to these rules as they see fit.

TREASURERS (Bidders) - TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    1. All items are sold "as-is", and thus, there cannot be any returns, refunds, swaps, and/or credit. There is also no warranty provided on the items, expressed and/or implied. Purchases are made at the 'treasurers' risk, and in the event of a winning bid, the purchase is final.

    2. In the event that a 'treasurer' wins a person's services, services requested from the 'treasurer' must be agreed to by the person who is providing the service. If the person does not agree to the 'treasurers' request, the person is under no obligation to do it. If you continually harass your person to do something he/she doesn't want to do, they have the right to call off the auction deal at any time. You are only allowed to keep your person for one hour after the time of pick up from the Auction Table.

    3. Once you win an item, you are expected to pay for the item before 4pm. A runner in the auction will hand you a ticket stub with the price on it. Keep this stub and arrive at the Auction Table located in Wilson Hall to pay for and pick up your item.

    4. Bid increments will not go below one dollar ($1) per bid. That is, cents will not be accepted.

    5. Due to time restraints, bidding may end up to 5 seconds after the last bid. So be quick and know your spending limit!

    6. Any disruptive activities may result in a 'treasurer' being removed from the Auction by Manifest organisers and Manifest volunteers. Disruptive behaviour and activities include, but are not limited to, repeated false bidding; repeatedly making large amounts of noise; repeatedly making distracting actions; and/or harassing other 'treasurers' and/or auctioneers and organisers. Please refer to the Manifest 2006 Code of Conduct for further details.

    7. Manifest organisers, volunteers and co-ordinators are allowed to take part in bidding at the auction. This includes the MC (master of ceremonies).

    8. The organisers reserve the right to make alterations to these rules as they see fit.
