Manifest 2006 Anime Music Video
Anime Music Videos, more commonly known as AMVs, have in the past few years
become a major part of anime fandom, in friendly circles, online communities and
anime conventions in general. Simply put, AMVs are a coming together of
music and video, in this case scenes from anime and Japanese video games, to
create a work of art, both entertaining and sometimes technically compelling.
Essentially it means, fans synchronise their favourite music both in beat and
lyrically to their loved anime to either show an original story or idea, or as a
tribute to the anime they enjoy.
Here in Manifest we enjoy AMVs immensely and as such we have a good number of
events dedicated to exhibiting this fandom. Some of the more prominent
things are listed below so that you have some idea of what to expect and to make
sure you don't miss out!
AMVs in Manifest 2006 have really shown brighter than ever before and below you can find a link
to the winning videos, as well as a listing of videos played in Manifest this year.

Anime Music Video Competition
The competition that most AMV creators are familiar with, here you can see the
works of editors from around Australia and indeed the world, as they compete to
be recognised to be the best that Manifest attracts. If the last few years
are an indication, the AMVs this year will be once more fantastic and therefore,
the competition, fierce. Be sure not to miss out on seeing these
creations, and if you're an AMV creator yourself, what are you still waiting
for? Get cracking on that video and read this for all you
need to know about the competition. |

Iron Chef AMV Competition
Iron Chef competitions, modelled after the hit Japanese TV show where the
contestants are given specific themes or ingredients to use for their cooking
while being under a time limit, is now a format well known in many competitions
in the anime fandom. In Manifest, we have our own version of an Iron Chef
AMV competition where after creators are given the secret ingredients, they have
about 24 hours to edit. How they spend that time and how they edit is
completely up to them so long as the ingredients are used. Known to the
AMVing world as bluetrain, Manifest 2005's Iron Chef winner will be back
to defend his title. It will be a match to look forward to, but if you
think you are up to the challenge, click here to find

Anime Music Video Exhibition
Introduced for the first time in 2005, the AMV Exhibition is meant purely
without thought of competition in mind. Here are videos either sent to us
specifically only to be shown for the public's enjoyment, or ones that we
believe deserve some due attention. As well as the normal AMVs, we also
show here the Multi Editor Projects, better known as MEPs submitted to us.
These videos are results of more than one AMV creator (sometimes amounting to as
many as a hundred creators) collaborating to complete a video that is meant to
conform to the spirit of the project. The results, suffice to say, are
sometimes awe inspiring. If you have any video which you feel you want the
AMV fans to enjoy but not be under the pressure of competition, please contact
the AMV coordinator. |
