Forum Closure and MOC General Meeting | 11/02/07

After far too long a time, we are now finally on the process of changing over our forum software. Hence you will more than likely receive interrupted service to the Manifest forums in the meantime. For any kind of urgent questions please send them to webperson@manifest.org.au.

A General meeting will be held on the 17th of February at 1PM in Swinburne University. Please come along. Details on how to get there can be found below.

  • MOC General Meeting & Social Gathering | 31/01/07

    Though earlier than usual, we will once again be having a General Meeting this coming Saturday, February 3 due to various scheduling issues. It will however be a shortened version, starting from 3PM till only 5PM, after which we will be having a little dinner and social activity session, just to have a little bit of fun! So come along to the IS Lounge in Swinburne University (details of how to get there can be found below), and we'll see you there.

    Postcard and Mascot Competitions Closed | 25/01/07

    We thank everyone for the massive response we've had for entries for both competitions. They've all been certainly awesome in their own unique ways. And so with the closing of both the Postcard and Mascot competitions we should be nearing the unveiling of the new look for Manifest 2007, with new publications and website now in production.

    We would just like to remind everyone out there about the MOC meeting that's going to be held this weekend. To remind you, it's on the 27th of January in Swinburne University at 1PM. Proceed to the Union Building - IS Lounge (there should be plenty of signs inside and outside the building pointing the way up there). Refer to the News post from 09/01/07 below for more information on how to get there.

    Minifest Date & Postcard and Mascot Competitions Extended | 15/01/07

    Ladies and gentlmen, boys and girls, we would like to announce that the Postcard and Mascot competitions have been extended till the 24th of January. If you thought you missed the chance to not only win some fantastic prizes but also have your artwork appreciated by Manifest's fans, then this is the news you've been waiting for! Don't let this chance get away from you now!

    MINIFEST 2007

    Minifest is back for another year, filled with the simple fun we've come to enjoy for the past 2 years. It is our way of thanking our great big-hearted volunteers who have made Manifest a success last year, as well as to serve as a temporary fix for all of us who just can't get enough of Manifest.

    Finally, we would just like to announce that the next MOC meeting will be held on the 27th of January in Swinburne University at 1PM, the same place we had it previously (refer to the news post below for how to get there). If you're interested in helping out prepare or maybe even just learn about Minifest, this is the perfect opportunity to come along and get involved.

    As the year opens up we would just like to wish everyone out there a Happy New year and may it be filled all the sorts of anime goodness.

    This also means that the Manifest Organising Committee is coming back to go at it again for another year to bring you Manifest 2007. The details for the first meeting of the year are shown below:

    The Manifest 2007 Executive Committee & Lost Properties | 12/12/06

    With the AGM having come and gone, we are very happy to announce to you the new executive committee for Manifest 2007!

    We hope they do a good job in leading Manifest to another successful year. MOC meetings will start soon after the Christmas break, so please stay tuned for updates on that.

    The Annual General Meeting | 03/12/06

    Fantastic news!

    The AGM is happening in a week's time. This event marks the official end of Manifest 2006, and the start of preparations for Manifest 2007, as elections will be held for the executive committee as well as other essential posititions, though these elections are held right after the AGM.

    We encourage everyone to attend, whether you're a former member or a brand new face to the Melbourne anime scene. Manifest needs all the dedicated fans to be the success that it is every year, so come along to ensure that tradition continues. Venue and time details can be found below:

    • Time: 1PM - 2PM AGM, 2PM-3PM Short applications meeting for the other positions

    It Goes On! | 26/11/06

    Many of you are probably unaware of this, but Manifest competitions are still going on. Our Art and Publicity department does not cease operations and so we would just like to remind people out there of two competitions that will affect Manifest 2007 and which we hope you will participate in.

    First up, we have the Mascot Competition. Year after year, Peppa-chan has grown and has become ever more awesome, yet she still remains the loved character that she has always been. We are looking for Peppa-chan artwork that will be used for such publications as the program book, website and other things for publicity, so if you want your interpretation of Peppa-chan shown to hundreds of anime fans, give this a go!

    The other competition we have for you is the Postcard Competition. Seen as one of our first promotional materials as well as a souvenir material for Manifest fans, this is your chance to make something magnificent and be part of a tradition that has attracted some of the best art in Manifest.

    Manifest 2007 preparations is about to begin soon with the announcement of the AGM anticipated to be any day now. After that, things will move fast was once again so keep yourself updated.

    Another One Has Gone By! | 25/09/06

    The seventh Manifest has come and gone. We hope that all of you fans out there had lots of fun. If you have any feedback, please contact us at manifest@manifest.org.au or go to our forums to drop us a line and maybe catch up with the other Manifest attendees this year.

    We want to also extend our most sincere thanks to our sponsors. Manifest would not be the same without you and we definitely appreciate the support. Our commercial and fan traders need to be thanked as well as they made sure our attendees got their anime fix to take home with them.

    And so now, as webmaster I want to personally thank you all and for actually reading the updates that I make. It's been great bringing to you the latest in Manifest news. Sometime soon, the next biggest news is probably going to be the announcement of the AGM, so please stay tuned till then.

    Important News! | 24/09/06

    All Manifest membership has sold out!

    That's right folks, as of yesterday Manifest has sold out membership completely. This includes Sunday memberships too.

    We thank everyone for being so enthusiastic about Manifest 2006. Now let's make today a day to remember!

    1 Day till Manifest | 21/09/06

    One Day left. Tomorrow at this time, we should all be beginning the party already, so make sure you are there to be part of all that's happening!

    Right now we have even more awesome news. Our Merchandise page has been updated to showcase even more of the things we will be selling and as previously mentioned, we will have these things available already from tomorrow onwards in the Old Arts Building. Click here to view and pre-order now!

    The schedule has been updated as well to now include the time at which Cosplay Chess is happening, so click here for the updated version.

    Finally, the Cultural Events page has been updated to show you all that is happening and at what time. We believed that Manifest is a place to not only enjoy anime, but also the Japanese culture from which this fandom is derived from. Our attendees participating in such events will further their understanding therefore of that which they enjoy so much already. Click here for all the information.

    New Event and Traders Update | 06/09/06

    As many of you are well aware, Late Pre-registration is now closed. With it also closed the applications for traders and fan traders in Manifest this year. If you want to see a list of the traders that will be in Manifest this year, click here.

    In conjunction with Eminence, Manifest is also proud to unveil a new event. Piano Stories IV is coming to Melbourne this year and is sure to be a hit once more as music from ever loved anime and Japanese video games are brought to life. Click here for more information.

    Extra Extra! Read all about it! | 30/08/06

    It's final days for many of the competitions as tomorrow is the day we close entries for many of them. Please go to our Competitions page to find out more information and be sure not to miss out. Note also that events such as Anime Idol and Cosplay also dates which need to be followed.

    Of importance as well for many people is the coming of the deadline for the Late Pre-registration into Manifest. The prices for this are definitely cheaper than buying at the door and ensures that you do get membership so act now and send us those forms!

    Finally, and this is very awesome news, our Merchandise department has opened its doors to all you eager people to get in early on some of the wonderful things we will have available for you in Manifest. Click here for more information.

    Accomodation News | 24/08/06

    For those people who are getting assistance in their accomodation for Manifest through us, we would like to remind people that accomodation registration should be in now. Payments should be made by September 8, so you don't have much time left. Click here for more information.

    In 5 days time the registration for Cosplay Judge is also closing so if you think you know your cosplay like no other and would like to get involved in this tradition of ours in Manifest, then please click here for more information and get to registering soon.

    We remind people again that Late Pre-registration is closing on the 1st of September. If you do not register with us now then the only other time you can purchase a Manifest membership is on the day itself with on-the-day prices. Click here for more information.     T-Shirt Competition Prize Update | 21/08/06

    As the T-Shirt competition is coming to an end, we now have available to you a list of prizes that you could win for submitting your artwork. The deadline for this is the 31st of August, so be sure not to miss out on this golden opportunity to have your work printed on the shirts bought and worn by the Manifest fans.     Once more we remind you that there are many things about to close at the end of this month. Just 10 days to go before you can no longer submit to the AMV, Iron Chef and Fanfic copmetitions. We would also like to remind you that the applications to be a judge for the Cosplay competition and the Fanfic competition are fast closing as well.     Auction Information Now Available | 17/08/06

    Always a popular event, whether you're off hunting for the best buy or rare treasure, selling that anime memento you've held on to for the longest of times, or just there to watch people's pockets suffer, the Manifest Auction is back once more this year. If you want to sell anything please be aware that you have to register your item(s) before the 8pm on Friday the 22nd of September. Information and brand new sellers and bidders contracts can now be found here.

    New Fan Traders news can also be found here, so if you have your wares to trade, read right ahead.

    Again, we'd just like to remind everyone that many competitions have closing dates at the end of the month so have a look now before you miss out.

    Brand New Cosplay Event - Cosplay Chess | 15/08/06

    Like to Cosplay? Like Chess? Like the idea of 'human' chess? Then this is for you! After seeing action in overseas conventions and first appearing on Australian shores during Ai-Con, Cosplay Chess makes its first appearance at Manifest in 2006. As the name of the game suggests, two teams of cosplayers will go head-to-head in a battle of wits as chess pieces on a man-sized chess board, mimicking a chess match at a larger scale. Hosted by Rhiannon Jones and Byron Lee (Marik-chan & .baorin//LEE respectively) and helped with the generous support of Manifest's volunteers, we hope that Cosplay Chess will be an event enjoyed by organisers, players and spectators alike.

    Also, we would like to remind everyone that the AMV, T-shirt, Iron Chef AMV and Fanfiction competitions are closing on the 31st of August so you don't have much time to submit entries for your chance to be recognised and win fabulous prizes.

    Anime Idol and FRUiTS Competition | 31/07/06

    A favourite among Manifest fans, Anime Idol's rules have now been released. Now you can read up and start preparing for the competition which will once again be exciting and challenging this year. Click here for the full information.

    FRUiTS is a brand new competition this year to Manifest which will sure to delight the costume lovers out there. Centred around Japanese fashion and not just cosplay, the rules and information are now available here to better familiarise yourself and not miss out!

    Mascot and Postcard Competition 2007 | 30/07/06

    Trying to get a headstart on the happenings of Manifest 2007? Well, we've now opened the Mascot and Postcard competitions which we need for Manifest 2007. We are looking for ways to spread the word early in 2007 so if you think you know how to best depict Peppa-chan, or make one wicked postcard design to be seen by the whole anime population of the country, then make sure to click on the competitions page here.

    Just a reminder that pre-registration with personalised badges is closing this Friday, 4th of August so better send those forms in now if you want to get in on the best deal.

    Late Registration Prices | 23/07/06

    After some careful consideration and because we want you all to come to Manifest very much, we have changed the price of the Late Registration membership. Previously they were going to be sold at On the Day prices but now we've taken $5 off. However we've moved forward the final deadline for these Late Registrations to the 1st of September.     Normal Pre-registration is still closing on the 4th of August where you can still get personalised membership badges and at lower prices so get moving with those forms.

    Doujicon is being held on the 29th of July at Monash University Caulfield Campus and we urge you all to attend this unique and brand new event. It features works by local animators and cartoonists as well as a number of exciting events. Manifest will be available there too in case you want to drop in your pre-registration as well as if you're just looking for more information.

    Pre-registration Coming to a close soon - 1 week extension | 28/06/06

    Attention all Manifest attendees if you have not pre-registered now is the time to do so. Pre-registration with personalised badges has been extended till the 4th of August. You can still pre-register up until the 16th of September, but a name of your choice will not be on the badge and these will sell at on the day prices.

    Also be sure to check out all the competitions and events which you might be interested in as submissions to these are also fast coming up (many of which have deadlines this 31st of August). If you are a trader, or wanting to sponsor us, please contact us soon as well.

    We have currently updated most of our email addresses and we hope that things will run more smoothly now. However, we have kept the alternative email adresseses available just in case you still cannot contact us while we are going through this transition period.

    With Manifest coming closer, the Manifest Organising Committee is meeting on a weekly basis in the University of Melbourne so if you feel like you want to volunteer for Manifest or even become part of MOC, then by all means come and visit us. Contact us at manifest@manifest.org.au if you want to know when and where.

    Cosplay Registration Now Open | 28/06/06

    A lot of you are probably very eager already and constructing your cosplay for Manifest 2006. And so we have opened up the online registration for this competition. We are also looking for judges, learned in the art of costume making to participate this year. Click here for all the details you need.

    Also, the Karaoke song list is now available just so you can peruse what you can sing to your hearts content this coming Manifest. The Anime Idol competition information is going to be upgraded soon, but expect that the songs available in the Karaoke will also be available in Idol.

    Finally we'd like to inform you that we are still having some email problems, so if you are trying to contact us and are not receiving any replies, please make use of the forums and we'll try to sort things out as soon as possible.

    The Date! | 03/06/06

    Finally we bring to you the news that many of you have been waiting for all this time; Manifest's date and venue for 2006:

  • Date: September 22, 23 and 24
  • Where: Melbourne University
  • We apologise for the lateness of the announcement and please understand that the reasons behind it were venue issues not entirely in our control and we wanted desperately to make sure that once more you, the fans, get what you've come to expect from Manifest over the years plus more!

    Now that you know the date, you can start your plans for the Manifest weekend. To help with this, we have re-opened the Manifest forums and if you have any questions regarding volunteering, registration, competitions, accomodation, events and anything else you might have in mind, come along.

    Lastly, we'd just like to mention that the date for the T-shirt, AMV and Iron Chef competitions have now been extended till the 31st of August, so get working on those submissions!

    Fanfic Competition Now Open | 1/06/06

    We would like to announce the opening of the Fanfic competition where you can enter the great stories you've created, based on the anime you love. The best stories are always awarded with glory and prizes so be sure not to miss out whether you are just a budding writer or an experience weaver of tales. Click here to find out more.

    Hi everyone. Manifest is proud to reveal our new website, which will soon have many new features, such as:

    E-Mail Problems and Poster Competition Extension | 04/04/06

    Hi everyone. It has come to our attention that our email server has been eating emails, particularly ones with attachments. If you have sent emails to any address listed on this website and have received no reply, please check the appropriate webpage for a temporary email address and ensure you at least receive an email stating it has arrived ok. If you are still having trouble, please send an enquiry to melbanimefest@gmail.com for assistance.

    We apologise for the inconvenience and are working to resolve it as soon as possible. In the mean time, below is a list of temporary e-mails that you can use.

    Celebrating the hard work of our volunteers, we invite you to come along, kick back and enjoy this one-day anime convention.
