From the Origins of Anime, major genres, through to various studios and finally Anime in the West, you'll get a complete primer perfect for newcomers to this hobby.

Japanese Culture in Anime

Ever wondered just what you may be missing from your favourite Anime? Well this panel is a quick plunge into some of the Japanese cultural references that you may have missed.

with Shu-Ket, Neil Murray and Caroline Seawright

A panel devoted to the arcane art of writing fanfiction. Not only are good ideas required, but pace, characterisation and interactions are vital, especially when using well established characters (even anime ones.)

Anime Travel

Wondering if some of the places featured in Anime are real? What are overseas Anime conventions really like? Is Japan really as expensive as they say? This panel will discuss all this and more!

Anime History
with Brad Lau and Craig Norris

Have you ever wondered how Anime was started? Come by and hear all about it! Topics discussed include the creation of Anime, its influences from the Japanese culture/history as well as artistic style and character designs. Then follows a summary of major works that shaped the Anime we know today in a past to present format.

How to Draw Manga
with Shun Takahashi and Eisuke Sawaeda

Interested in learning how to draw manga? Shun Takahashi and Eisuke Sawaeda will be presenting a panel on how to draw manga. Included during the hour-long session would be examples of animation and manga as produced by the pair, as well as a 30-minute workshop for participants.
