In 1998, the university anime clubs and the Melbourne Anime Society staged a fundraising event for the then new Monash Anime and Comics Club, where about 6 hours of anime was screened. This was repeated a year later until a number of fans that regularly went overseas to the USA expressed their interest in staging something similar in Melbourne. Thus, MANIFEST was born.

After 2000, there was agreement that something like this would be good to bring together the respective Anime clubs to keep in touch with each other. We also saw this as an opportunity to bring the Commercial Anime Industry and vendors on board to garner more support from these elements. We could then incorporate other elements that were successful in conventions from overseas into MANIFEST.

This year, we bring you MANIFEST 2002...
